Access a Network Element through a Dial-up session
Access a Network Element through a TCP/IP connection
The remote technician can access the SA-8000 through a dial-up
connection or through an IP connection.
In a dial up application, once the remote modem answers the
technician will open a browser, select a site from the browser
favorites and will have access to a log-in window.
Log on to the SA-8000 using the assigned username/password
level (provides a level of security and allows restriction on
accessing specific network elements based on the username)
Locate the Network Element to connect to.
The SA-8000 series provides visibility and connectivity to:
1 serial/255 IP elements
4 serial/255 IP elements
8 serial/255 IP elements
16 serial/255 IP elements
32 serial/255 IP elements
Press the Connect button
The default Telnet application will open up and provide a
connection into the Network Element. The technician will see the
same management screen that would be seen if the technician
was physically in front of the device.
The SA-8000 allows specific vendors application software to be
used once a connection has been made. This function allows
access to network elements remotely, in a secure manner, where
in the past one has had to be physically in front of the device to
access it.
