Dial-up Process
Technician opens up a standard Dial-up session using
Microsoft Dial Up Networking (DUN).
The technicians PC dials out to the target phone number
assigned to the remote SA-8000 modem.
The modem answers and a PPP session is started, the
technician opens a browser and selects from the Favourites
the link to the SA-8000 at the target location.
A login-in screen will be displayed, Enter in the user name and
password. Once verified, access is provided into the SA-8000.
Identify and Access the Network Element
The user will at this time identify the network element to be
accessed. If the Application field reads "TELNET", a standard
telnet session will be started when the CONNECT button is
pressed.
If there is an entry other then TELNET in the Application
column, the HS-325 SetSecurity application will be required to
have been installed on this PC to allow access to this network
element.
Once the network element has been identified, the CONNECT
button will be pressed to open either a standard Telnet session
or a specific vendors software application will open.
If this is not a Telnet session, then the SA-8000 will confirm
that the remote user has permission to access this network
element prior to opening the specific vendors application
software. If the remote user is not configured , no access to
that network element is allowed.
