SA-8000 Network Element Access Window Open Telnet Session or validate approved access for specific network element Opened Network Element Command Line Management (embedded CLI software) Telnet Session or Vender Specific Software Application Dial-up Process Technician opens up a standard Dial-up session using Microsoft Dial Up Networking (DUN). The technicians PC dials out to the target phone number assigned to the remote SA-8000 modem. The modem answers and a PPP session is started, the technician opens a browser and selects from the Favourites the link to the SA-8000 at the target location. A login-in screen will be displayed, Enter in the user name and password. Once verified, access is provided into the SA-8000. Identify and Access the Network Element The user will at this time identify the network element to be accessed. If the Application field reads "TELNET", a standard telnet session will be started when the CONNECT button is pressed. If there is an entry other then TELNET in the Application column, the HS-325 SetSecurity application will be required to have been installed on this PC to allow access to this network element. Once the network element has been identified, the CONNECT button will be pressed to open either a standard Telnet session or a specific vendors software application will open. If this is not a Telnet session, then the SA-8000 will confirm that the remote user has permission to access this network element prior to opening the specific vendors application software. If the remote user is not configured , no access to that network element is allowed.
