Series 8000 - Serial Access Gateway Product Family
The Series 8000 IP/Serial Access Gateway product family provides Browser based Access, Connectivity, Identification, and Visibility into IP and Serial Enabled Intelligent Network Elements through an IP connection and /or through a Dial-up PPP session. With options of 1 to 32 serial ports in a single platform, available power is available at 24 VDC, -48 VDC, 110 and 220 VAC.
Using the SA-8000, Central Office Technicians, Maintenance Engineers and NOC personnel can configure, troubleshoot and manage geographically dispersed INE's from any secure IP connection, through the Intranet or via a secure dial-up connection, reducing costly on-site visits, service disruptions and skilled personnel requirements. Service providers can centrally manage and provision services dynamically across multiple remote locations.
Serial access will be provided with a physical connection between the SA-8000 serial port and the network element. IP access is through a browser window that allows registering IP enabled network elements and provides a connection button. A separate Ethernet hub or switch will be required to provide physical connectivity to the Ethernet devices.

Security Based Remote Access
There are many methods available and used to provide
access to network elements, not all of these methods are simple or secure.
The two basic methods are through a dial-in or through an IP connection.
The SA-8000 can be optioned to provide access over a selected web-server
port (other then the standard port 80), through an https secure connection
or a dial-up connection. |
